Full-stack Developer (Laravel / PHP)

You will work inside milestone-based engagements: discovery inputs, implementation, QA support, and handover documentation — the same rigour we promise clients on proposals.

Typical stacks include Laravel, relational databases, REST and third-party integrations, and deployment patterns our clients can operate. You collaborate with project leads, QA, and occasionally client engineering teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain server-side logic, REST/JSON APIs, and admin tools using Laravel and PHP 8+ following team coding standards.
• Model data with migrations, Eloquent (or query builder), indexes, and sane validation rules; write database changes that are safe for production.
• Build and integrate features with Blade templates, components, Tailwind CSS, and JavaScript where the UI requires interactivity.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, rate limiting, and secure handling of secrets, sessions, and file uploads per project requirements.
• Integrate third-party APIs (payments, CRM, email, maps, SSO, webhooks) with error handling, logging, and idempotency where needed.
• Use queues, jobs, and scheduled tasks for heavy or asynchronous work; monitor failures and retries.
• Write automated tests (PHPUnit / Pest, feature and unit) for critical paths and regressions; participate in code review as author and reviewer.
• Profile and improve application performance (N+1 queries, caching, eager loading) and support Core Web Vitals–friendly server responses.
• Produce technical notes, README updates, and handover artefacts so clients or future developers can operate the system.
• Attend stand-ups or async updates, estimate tasks honestly, and flag blockers, scope risk, or technical debt early.
• Support UAT and release windows: staging verification, deployment checklists, and post-launch defect triage within agreed SLAs.
• Follow Git branching conventions, meaningful commits, and PR descriptions that explain intent and testing done.

Requirements & qualifications

• 3+ years professional experience with PHP and Laravel (or comparable MVC framework with strong Laravel upskilling ability).
• Solid SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL): joins, transactions, migrations, and basic explain-plan thinking.
• REST API design, HTTP semantics, JSON, and experience with API authentication (tokens, OAuth patterns as applicable).
• Git, collaborative workflows, and constructive code review habits.
• Comfortable reading and writing English for tickets, documentation, and occasional client-facing technical updates.
• Awareness of OWASP basics, input validation, CSRF, XSS, and secure session handling.

Nice to have

• Experience with Laravel Horizon, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, or message brokers.
• Docker, CI/CD pipelines, or cloud hosting (e.g. AWS, DigitalOcean, Laravel Forge).
• Headless CMS, Inertia/Livewire, or a modern front-end framework when projects demand it.
• Prior agency or consulting delivery with multiple concurrent clients.
